Judo Team Claims Top Prize
The West Point Judo team raises the national championship trophy after winning the National Collegiate Championship on March 13 in College Station, Texas. The judo team earned the title by outpointing San Jose State Univ., 20-13. It was the first loss for the San Jose team in nearly 50 years according to Lt. Col. Hector Morales, the team’s coach. Individual winners for the Army team were: Cadets Nathan Horswill (’10), Kyle Schlauch (’12) in the men’s division and Cadets Nargis Kabiri (’10) and Heather Purkey (’12) became the second and third West Point women national champions.
