I received a letter containing information on the
commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States Military Academy at
West Point, New York signed by both Secretary of the Army White and General Shinseki. I would
like to express my appreciation and my thanks for this initiative.
When hearing the name "West Point" everybody is thinking of
the highest academic standards combined with military discipline, a honorable conduct and physical
fitness. The Military Academy trained and still trains some of the best and brightest young men and
women to leaders who are committed to values of Duty, Honor and Country. It has done so for the
past 200 years and I am sure it will continue to do so for many years to come.
I am certain that the events of the commemoration will be most
successful and I wish the Academy, its Superintendent, its Staff and its Corps of Cadets all the best
today and in the future.
