of the United States Military Academy at
West Point, NEW-YORK - 1802-2002.
Dear Sir,
At this special occasion, I have the pleasure and honor to take this
opportunity to congratulate you and the entire Staff for all the services rendered. The
entire family of the Cameroon Armed Forces expresses their appreciation and
thanks for the opportunity our fellow officers had to obtain the best military training
ever.
The following cameroonian officers who graduated from this prestigious
school, the West Point Military Academy, are involved in different military training
schools in Cameroon.
> Captain Samuel OROCK TABOT ......................................1987-1991
> Captain Jacques Alain TSOGO ...........................................1992-1996
> Lieutenant Samuel FOMUNDAM .......................................1996-2000
> Lieutenant Emmanuel NOUGA NGOG ...............................1996-2000
> Lieutenant John Williams NJOCK .......................................1997-2001
I wish to inform you that the United States of America was the second nation
after France to establish diplomatic relations with Cameroon immediately after its
independence in 1960. Since then, US-Cameroon cooperation and friendship has
grown beyond all bounds.
The training of Cameroonians by the United States is as old as our friendship.
It started when late President John KENNEDY, a man of honor, integrity and
respect, sent to all corners of Cameroon, peace corps volunteers to teach basic
technological skills to young Cameroonians in High Schools. This cultural
cooperation has expanded in various directions such as agricultural research, grants,
equipment, training of man-power, and today, the training of our Military Personnel. I
want to stress here that this special occasion, the Bicentennial of the West Point
Military Academy and its events constitute an important aspect of US-Cameroon
long standing friendship.
Finally, I wish to express our highest gratitude and congratulations to the
Superintendent and his Staff for a job well done.
Long live US Military Academy,
Long live US-Cameroon friendship.
