Fiscal Integrity

The area of Fiscal Integrity refers to an institution's control, or lack thereof, of moneys expended in the recruitment of student-athletes and the conduct of the athletic program.  The operating principles and a short description of each are given below.  Mr. Dave Simpson is the chair of the Subcommittee on Fiscal Integrity.

• Financial Controls.  Institutions shall follow prudent management and fiscal practices in the raising and expenditure of funds to support student-athletes, as well as have provisions for proper oversight.  Additionally, the athletics budget shall fall under the purview of the institution's chief executive officer and not be separate.
• Established Policies.  Standard operating procedures will be in place to guide the control of athletics-related finances.
