The tomb of Brigadier General Egbert L. Viele, a West Point graduate from the Class of 1847. BG Viele was the chief engineer of the projected Central Park in New York City in 1856 and the engineer for Prospect Park, Brooklyn. His TOPOGRAPHICAL ATLAS OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK, "showing the original water courses and made land" published in 1876 is still used by New York City engineers.

Mission Coordinates funeral arrangements for interment/inurnment in the post cemetery. Assigns grave space, maintains records, orders headstones and performs research. Responsible for cemetery expansion.Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) of mortuary contract. Responsible for care and disposition of remains of active duty Armed Forces deaths within Orange County, New York. |
