Superintendents semi-annual command interest brief scheduled
USMA Superintendent Lt. Gen. Daniel W. Christman will give his semi-annual command interest briefing March 1, 12:45 to 1:40 p.m. in Robinson Auditoriums Thayer Hall. All attendees should be seated by 12:40 p.m.
This briefing is mandatory for all officers, all non-commissioned officers (Sgts. 1st Class and above) and all GS-9 and above civilians. All others wishing to attend should coordinate with their activities.
The Command Channel (8) will broadcast the briefing live. It will be rebroadcast March 2, 1 p.m.; March 5, 7 p.m. and March 6, 9 a.m.
West Point club named Americas best
By Cadet 1st Class Philip KreckThe West Point Model United Nations Club traveled to McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Jan. 25 and returned as Americas best MUN Club.
Recognized as "honorable delegation," runner-up only to the University of Canada at Calgary, the club competed against 120-plus universities from all over America, South America and Canada. Other universities at the conference included Harvard, Georgetown, Cornell, George Washington, William & Mary and Princeton.
During three and half days of United Nations simulations, the West Point delegation participated in committees such as the World Health Organization, NATO and the European Commission. Members of the club wrote UN resolutions, bartered deals and made speeches with more than a thousand other graduate and under-graduate students.
Cadet 3rd Class Seth Johnston was named Best Delegate, playing the role of Sir Winston Churchill in a historical WWII council. Cadet 4th Class Brian Montgomery was named Best Delegate in a Canadian government simulation.
"Everyone represented West Point well, demonstrating good character and powerful leadership in and out of the committee sessions," said Capt. Felisa S.A. Lewis, a professor in the USMAs Department of Social Sciences and the officer in charge of the MUN club.
The clubs next conference is scheduled for Feb. 15-18 at the Harvard National MUN Conference in Boston.
