Sophomore John Robella was runnerup on vault and junior Troy Pazcoguin took second in the all-around scoring as Army turned in a solid showing despite its 208.45-199.90 loss to defending national champion and No. 5-ranked Penn State Saturday evening.

Robella recorded a season-high 9.05 on vault and Pazcoguin was nipped by Tobias Ekman for all-around honors by .45 in compiling a score of 50.00. Freshman Nate Whitten was third with a 47.60.

Sophomore Matt Eckerman tied for fourth on parallel bars (8.45) and floor exercise (8.55) and Whitten was fourth on pommel horse (8.40) in rounding out Army’s top performances as the Black Knights dropped to 1-1 following a season-high 199.90.

Penn State’s Kevin Donohue was a double winner, taking first on vault (9.20) and floor exercise (9.15) as the Nittany Lions, who last week defended their title at the West Point Open, captured all six individual events.

The Black Knights return to action Saturday hosting a triangular meet with Temple and Southern Connecticut.
