The U.S. Military Academy will hold its annual Retiree Appreciation Day in Eisenhower Hall May 5.

Gail Reynolds of the Adjutant General’s Office has coordinated the event, which she said will likely bring at least 1,000 retirees and family members from surrounding counties and states.

"This event is held to honor our retirees for their service to the nation and to inform them of the benefits available to them for that service," she said.

Morning events will include music performed by the USMA "Hellcats" band, a posting of the colors and a brief welcome by superintendent Lt. Gen. Daniel W. Christman. This will be followed by addresses from representatives of the Retired Officer’s Association, Defense Finance and Accounting Division and a briefing on the new TRICARE For Life program.

Retirees will also see the Corps of Cadets perform a pass in review on the Plain, followed by a cadet drill team performance and a parachute demonstration.

The day will wrap up with a luncheon in the USMA Cadet Mess and a visit to the static display on Daly Field.
