The Bucknell Bison won 11 of 13 women’s swimming events, including the last seven, to hand the Black Knights their first loss of the year, 153.5 - 89.5, Saturday night at Crandall Pool.

Leading the way for the Bison were freshmen Jackie Feinthel and diver Sara Petcavage, who gave Bucknell its first win over Army since Feb. 11, 1984.

The sole winners of the meet for Army were sophomores Garrett Shannon in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.91) and Ashley Dellavalle in the 50-yard freestyle (25.24).

Bucknell started the meet with a comeback victory in the 400-yard medley relay. The Bison team led by Darby Golino, Jamie Flick, Ashley Aiken and Abby Weaver rallied back to pass two Army squads during the final legs of the event to claim the 11 points and set the tempo for the rest of the meet.

Feinthel followed the medley relay with a victory of her own in the 1000-yard freestyle, but her biggest win of the night came in the 200-butterfly, when she touched the wall at 2:10.14, breaking the meet record set last year by fellow Bison Molly Lowe.

Also setting meet records was Petcavage, who set marks in the 1- and 3-meter dives. On the 1-meter board, she scored a 212.55, breaking a record that was held by Army sophomre Melissa Hejlik. Off the 3-meter, Petcavage broke a 3-year-old meet record which was held by Edith Alcorn (USMA ’99).

The women’s swimming and diving team will return to action Saturday at Colgate. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
