'Women of Distinction' nominations sought
HIGHLAND FALLS, N.Y. -- Mayor Joseph E. D’Onofrio is now accepting letters of nomination for his fifth annual "Women of Distinction" Award.Presented each year in March, the awards are to be given out in honor of National Women’s History Month. Nominations can come from Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery or West Point.
"We want to honor women who are exceptional," D’Onofrio said. "There are so many talented, hard-working women in our community who have not been appropriately recognized for their accomplishments. There are many women in our community whose contributions have greatly enriched the quality of life here, and beyond."
Nominees for the award can be recognized for community service, church work, business, public service, health care, education, volunteer service, unique achievements and more.
Letters of nomination should be sent to the Mayor, care of Village Hall, 303 Main Street, Highland Falls, N.Y. 10928. Letters must be signed, addressed and a telephone number included. Entries are due by Feb. 28.
