Army softball walked off with two of the Patriot League’s three weekly all-star awards for the second straight week. Senior team captain Nicki Robbins was tabbed for "Player of the Week" accolades for the second straight week and third time this season, while freshman Lindsay March was named "Rookie of the Week."

Both were instrumental in Army’s 6-1-1week, which included its second league series sweep, en route to posting its fourth straight 20-win campaign.

"Player of the Week" Senior Nicki Robbins

Robbins batted .533 (8-for-15) last week with five of her eight hits going for extra bases. She belted two home runs and ripped three doubles in driving in six runs and scoring 11 times. She doubled in a run and delivered two more with a home run in staking Army to an 8-1 lead in its 10-2 romp over Wagner. Robbins scored twice in a mid-week win over Marist in the first game, then ripped her fifth home run of the year with one on in the top of the seventh to erase a 1-0 deficit in the nightcap.

Despite being intentionally walked ten times in the Lafayette series, Robins managed to score seven runs and was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.

The Seminole, Fla., native tops the league in eight offensive categories include batting (.450), hits (36), runs (25), doubles (12), RBIs (21), total bases (63), on-base percentage (.564) and slugging percentage (.787). In league play, she is first in batting (.500), on-base percentage (.690), and slugging percentage (.889). She is also tied with classmate Bianca Brito for runs (10) and shares the lead in doubles (4).

"Rookie of the Week" Freshman Lindsay March

March batted .591 last week in collecting a team-high 13 hits in 22 at bats. She scored seven times along with three RBIs. She was instrumental in Army’s sweep of Lafayette in going 4-for-8 with a pair of runs and three RBIs. In Sunday’s twinbill, she helped spark the Black Knights after the Leopards closed to within two runs in game one and tied the score in the nightcap.

The native from Tucson, Ariz., helped key a five-run sixth-inning flurry in the opener by knocking in the second run and scoring herself. In the nightcap, she doubled home a pair of runs and scored in an eight-run sixth that broke open the game. She was 9-for-14 in the non-league portion of last week’s schedule and had a hit in six of the eight games.

March’s performance moved her up the team ladder into second place in batting (.402), and third in hits (33) and runs scored (16). She has been involved in 99 fielding chances and has erred just three times. In league games, March is batting .429 and is tied for second in hits (9) and RBIs (4).

In league play, March is second in batting, third in runs, fourth in on-base percentage (.443) and fifth in hits. In league games, she is third in on-base percentage (.500), fifth in batting and tied for sixth in hits.

The Black Knights will spend the week preparing for their four-game series when they host defending champion Lehigh this weekend.
