Do you know where your children were:

To the West Point community:

Parents, do you know where your children were April 19, between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m.?

Someone vandalized at least three cars in Lee Area, spraying black paint and slashing tires. They also vandalized public property including a stop sign and signs around the community garden plots.

Our vehicle suffered black spray paint the entire length of the passenger side and this vandalism occurred in our driveway in front of our house!

We are angry and frustrated at these acts of random destruction in our community. The confined area in which this occurred makes it likely that it was done by someone who lives in or near Lee Area. Besides causing thousands of dollars worth of property damage, the perpetrators caused our family -- and the other families affected -- to feel victimized.

I wish to remind dependents that committing criminal acts can cause your family to lose on-post housing privileges. Our car will be repainted, thanks to our insurance company, and all that will remain is an unpleasant memory. However, if the perpetrators are caught, the mark on their record and the effect to their families will be much more permanent.
