Family Housing residents interested in sprucing up their yards should take note of the Annual Spring Flower Issue which will be held Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Self Help Center, Bldg. 695. The issue provides each quarters with one flat of flowers to help beautify the Post housing areas

The flowers, which are preordered by the Directorate of Housing and Public Works, consists of a selection of varieties chosen based on the local growing season and the varieties’ attraction to deer or other animals. Every attempt is made to provide residents with a wide choice of flowers.

During the Flower Issue, the Self Help Center will be closed for all other business. Access to the flower issue will be restricted, with exit and entrance limited. This is to insure that all residents have orderly access to the flowers available for their quarters. The military member or spouse with proper ID must pick up the initial issue, which will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

If the resident is unable to pick up the flowers for their quarters, a neighbor may pick them up with written authorization. Authorization must include: quarter’s number, name, rank, both duty and home phone numbers of the resident and include the name of who is authorized to select and pick up the flowers. The authorizations must be legible and signed by the military member or spouse. Authorizations that do not comply with the above will not be accepted.

Beginning at 6 p.m., all remaining flowers will be distributed on a first come, first served basis to spouses or military members only. During this second issue, flowers will be selected one flat at a time.
