SUN SAFETY: Limiting excessive sun exposure during the first 18 years of life is probably the most important intervention that will decrease the risk of skin cancers later in life. Reducing exposure to the sun between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., wearing protective clothing and hats, and applying a sunscreen with a sun protective factor of 15 or above will diminish the risk of these highly preventable cancers.
