The West Point Rangers blanked the New York Knights Sunday at Cornwall High School 8-0 behind a three-hitter from lefty hurler Jeff Logan.
Logan, appearing in his final "official" game for the Rangers before he moves to Walter Reed Medical Center, struck out 11 batters and allowed only four baserunners over nine innings.
The Rangers scored single runs in the first and second innings and posted three-run innings in the third and seventh innings to put the game away.
Logan was perfect through three innings and struck out the side in the top of the first inning.
The Rangers ran wild on the Knights defense stealing eight bases on the day while racking up four unearned runs.
Coach/third baseman Danny McCarthy blasted a triple in the third inning that plated two runs.
Rangers’ shortstop Julio Fernandez had a double, scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3 on the day.
Catcher Eli Nieves was 1-for-3 with a run scored and three stolen bases. Rightfielder Marty Martino was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Leftfielder Ken Curtis was 1-for-3 with a run, a walk and three stolen bases. Designated hitter Ken Ferrara was 2-for-2 with a walk. Center fielder Pat Magras had an RBI, scored a run, stole a base and was 2-for-3.
The Rangers head to Connecticut Sunday where they face the Blind Brook Warriors at 9 a.m.
They return to West Point July 28 for a 9 a.m. game at Doubleday Field against the league’s two-time defending champion Carmel Cardinals.
