Mom's Club offers outlet for stay-at-home parents

By the Mom's Club

Staying at home to raise a child is a rewarding, but a often patience-challenging job. No one can fully understand the pleasures, stresses or juggling acts better than stay-at-home parents. The Mom’s Club of West Point provides an outlet for meeting other parents, exchanging helpful information and having fun.

v Activities and Meetings: All of our activities, except for Mom’s Night Out, are during the day. Every week holds something fun for you and your child. Mom’s Night Out is a special time to get together with other moms to enjoy a movie, a new restaurant, Bunko, Bingo or other fun activities. Our General Meeting’s topics for discussion or other interesting activities, offers free on-site childcare. Kid’s Day Out events are held in both the morning and afternoon and may include trips to the zoo, the fire department, parks, Children’s Museums or other child-oriented activity.

v Play Groups: The Mom’s Club sponsors playgroups for all ages. It’s a fun, relaxing way for your child to socialize and for you to get to know other members in an informal atmosphere.

v Babysitting Co-op: Often times it is difficult to find a babysitter during the day or when you are new in town. We offer an easy to use babysitting co-op among members.

v Service Projects: Each year we do fundraisers to raise money to support our community. Our efforts have enlarged the book collection at the West Point and Highland Falls Libraries, enhanced local playgrounds and provided food for local charities.

v Dues: Our dues are $20 per year and help to cover the cost of mailing our monthly newsletter, child care providers during general meetings, supplies and some of our programs. If you wish, you may attend two activities before you decide to become a member.

v Welcome Newcomers! Come visit our next meeting. You probably will not be the only new person there. Although some of us have lived here for years and are experienced mothers, many of us are new in town or new to motherhood! We all have one thing in common -- the Mom’s Club. It introduces you to other moms who stay home and they will soon become your friends.
