Public Works 'Poop'

Residents are reminded not to store personal property in mechanical rooms. Mechanical rooms are not intended to be used for storage. Storage of cardboard boxes, old paint and other household products produces a fire hazard when placed near a furnace or hot water heater. Additionally, our mechanics need ready access to the equipment in the room. For more information, contact DHPW Customer Relations, 938-4407.

Solid waste collection containers
The green flip-flop trash container and the yellow recyclable container used for solid waste collection in the housing areas are available at Self Help Center, Building 695, should your containers be damaged.

Residents will receive a new or reconditioned trash or recyclable container depending on availability of the containers. You must present your ID at the Center to receive your container.

Because the available supply varies, call the Self Help Center at 938-5262 to insure containers are in stock prior to your visit.

Requests for energy approval
Energy approval is required for new and replacement equipment and appliances at USMA, both in housing and public buildings. USMA is required by DOD mandate to significantly reduce energy usage by the year 2010.

In effort to accomplish this, we are tracking new and replacement energy consumption. For public buildings, all requests for energy approval should be faxed to DHPW at 938-6875.

In housing, residents wishing to use their own refrigerator or stove are required to fill out a "request for use of privately owned appliances," available at the Housing Division, Building 626.

For more information, contact the Housing Division at 938-5189.
