The magnificent seven
The Association of Graduates of the U.S. Military Academy will honor seven of its members as "distinguished grads" during the alumni exercise review ceremony on Tuesday. 

West Point 2003 grad killed in Iraq
Second Lt. Leonard Cowherd, 23, a member of the U.S. Military Academy Class of 2003, was fatally shot May 16 near Karbala, Iraq. A native of Culpeper , Va. , the  23-year-old is the first wartime fatality from that area since Vietnam .

A century of connection: Stilwell cadets prepare for graduation
The two Class of 2004 members each come from opposite ends of the country. However, as they count down the days until graduation, the second cousins can feel a century of history bearing down and bringing them together.  

Still going strong
There’s only one person in the world who can say he was the first American prisoner of war during World War II. At 102 years old, retired Col. Michael Buckley, Jr., a member of the U.S. Military Academy Class of 1923 and a Saratoga, Fla., native, can still remember the experience like it happened yesterday.

 Men's track and field wins first IC4A championship
Army won its first IC4A Championship at Yale University’s Outdoor Track and Field Complex Saturday. The Black Knights concluded the three-day meet with 50 points to nip Rutgers (48.75 points) and George Mason (48) for the team title.

Terps end Army lax season
Third-seeded Maryland scored seven unanswered goals at the beginning of the fourth quarter on the strength of seven consecutive faceoff wins to defeat Army, 16-12, in an NCAA First Round contest in front of 4,265 fans at Byrd Stadium in College Park, Md., Saturday night.
