Practicing their paddle power

Second-year cadets of the Cadet Field Training Regiment’s 7th Company race to the far side of Stillwell Lake after practicing capsize drills Tuesday. The exercise also included simulated waterborne assaults in support of a foot-bridge mission. CFT familiarizes and trains second-year cadets in small-unit tactics and exposes them to the Army’s many diverse branches. The eight-week training concludes August 9. The entire regiment, approximately 1,500 personnel and officers will then run back to West Point’s central area. The group will follow Route 293 to 218 into Washington Gate with a finish expected by 8:30 a.m. The run may cause traffic delays in these areas. Motorists should be cautious.
