CADET SENTENCED – March 3, 2007

 

            WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Jordan Yeargain, D Company, 3rd Regiment, Class of 2009, pleaded guilty today to drug-related offenses.  He was sentenced to one year confinement, dismissal from the U.S. Army and forfeiture of all pay and allowances. 

            Yeargain was formally charged with one violation of Article 112a (Wrongful Use of a Controlled Substance-cocaine), one violation of Article 112a (Wrongful Distribution of a Controlled Substance) and one violation of Article 134 (Obstruction of Justice) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

            Under the terms of a plea agreement, the Government has dismissed the Obstruction of Justice charge.

            “Cadet Yeargain’s behavior is inconsistent with the values of the military academy.  The actions in this case were found to be in violation of the UCMJ and the standards of conduct of the U.S. Army,” said West Point Director of Public Affairs Lt. Col. Kent Cassella.
