USA CYCLING RANKS ARMY NUMBER ONE – Aug. 29, 2007

 

       WEST POINT, N.Y.  -- USA Cycling has ranked Army number one among the top 50 collegiate cycling schools.  The organization released the rankings Wednesday.

       The Army Cycling Team was ranked number one nationally for schools less then 15,000 students and 25th among roughly 350 schools.  Air Force was ranked 41st among Division two schools and Navy was not ranked.

       USA Cycling is the official cycling organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and is responsible for identifying, training, and selecting cyclists to represent the United States in international competition.

       Besides preparing athletes for world-class competition, USA Cycling conducts business as the U.S. Cycling Federation, the National Off-Road Bicycle Association and USPRO, controlling nearly two dozen events each year and issuing permits for up to 3,000 more.  The major responsibilities of the organization are to ensure the ongoing safety and development of the sport.
