WEST POINT OPENS NEW UNIT FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS – Sept. 14, 2007

 

            WEST POINT, N.Y. – Keller Army Community Hospital will conduct a ribbon cutting ceremony here for its new Warrior Transition Unit Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 11:30 a.m.

            The Warrior Transition Unit is part of the Army’s plan to better care for wounded Soldiers.  The unit will operate from offices in building 626, close to West Point’s main entrance, Thayer Gate.  Its purpose is to facilitate the care and recovery of wounded Soldiers that choose to be located in the Northeast for recuperation.  The WTU exists to ensure proper care and support for each Soldier and his or her family while receiving medical care.

            Soldiers wounded from deployments, seriously ill Soldiers, and Soldiers requiring surgeries will benefit from the unit’s services.
