WEST POINT CADET DIES IN ACCIDENT – Jan. 23, 2008

 

            WEST POINT, N.Y. – A U.S. Military Academy cadet died over the weekend while on leave away from the academy.

            Cadet Mitchel Tisdell, 21, of Littletown, Colo., a member of the class of 2009, was struck by a train and killed in Bethpage, Long Island, N.Y., on Jan. 19.  The accident is under investigation.

            “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tisdell family during this difficult time,” said Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty, U.S. Military Academy Director of Communications, Public Affairs.

            Tisdell was a cadet in good standing and was active in many organizations and club sports to include the strength team, the German language club and the fishing club.

            The West Point community is invited to attend a memorial service scheduled here Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 12:45 p.m. in the Cadet Chapel.
