ASSUMPTION OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR USMA COMMAND SGT. MAJOR – April 1, 2008

 

     WEST POINT, N.Y. – Command Sgt. Maj. Martin R. Wells will assume the position of Command Sgt. Maj. of the U.S. Military Academy Monday, April 7 at 4 p.m. at Trophy Point.

     The USMA CSM acts as a liaison between the Superintendent and the enlisted Soldiers working at West Point.  The CSM carries out policies and standards of the performance, training, appearance and conduct of enlisted personnel.  The CSM advises and initiates recommendations to the commander and staff in matters pertaining to the local NCO support channel.

     Martin, of Rockville, Md., comes to West Point after serving as the Commandant of the Soldier Support Institute, NCO Academy at Fort Jackson, S.C.

     Attendees should enter through Thayer or Stony Lonesome gates.  Proper identification will be required upon entering academy grounds and all vehicles are subject to search.

     In the event of inclement weather the ceremony will be held in Thayer Hall’s Robinson Auditorium.
