WOMAN CADET WINS CHAMPIONSHIP IN AMERICAN TRAP – April 15, 2008

     WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior cadet Katie Fichtner won the American College Unions International women’s collegiate championship in American Trap Sunday, April 13 in San Antonio, Texas.

Fichtner, of Broken Arrow, Okla., shot a 97-out-of-100 in American Trap in the regular round and tied with another woman shooter from Lindenwood University, Mo.  She then shot 25-of-25 in the shoot-off round to win the championship by five targets.

ESPN-U filmed the shoot-off final and interviewed Fichtner after she won the title.  The program is expected to air sometime this summer.

The seven-member cadet team finished sixth out of the 26 schools that took part.  The competition saw more than 250 shooters from around the country compete at this national collegiate shoot.
