WEST POINT TAEKWONDO AT US COLLEGIATE NATIONALS – March 27, 2009

WEST POINT, N.Y. –The U.S. Military Academy’s Taekwondo Team competed at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals at Brown University, in Providence, R.I., this past weekend.

Cadet Tom Beirne, Class of 2009 received the title of U.S. National Collegiate Champion, the first man from the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference to achieve this title since 2001. The event hosted athletes from more than 80 colleges with three West Point cadets placing in the top three in multiple events.

"The results remain consistent with the high performance displayed by this year's team," said Maj. Khanh Diep, director of competitive clubs.
