WEST POINT CADET NAMED RHODES

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The
Rhodes Scholarship Trust has announced U.S
Military Academy
Cadet Jason Crabtree of Kingston,
Wash., as one of the 32
recipients for this year’s prestigious Rhodes Scholarship.
Scholarship
recipients are selected on the criteria of scholastic talent, leadership
ability, integrity of character, selflessness and
physical prowess. Crabtree will have the opportunity to continue his
education at Oxford, England, for two years. Since
1923, West Point has earned this achievement
87 times.
Crabtree
is in his final year at the West Point where
he majors in civil engineering. He is the Brigade Commander for 4,400
members of the Corps of Cadets, and is currently ranked second in his class
overall. Crabtree is a trained paratrooper, scuba diver, mountain climber
and accomplished guitar player. Additionally, he has done design work for
new NASA parachute systems and is interested in space exploration and
engineering possibilities for off-world construction.
