ENGINEERING PROFESSOR SELECTED TO NIEE BOARD – June 5, 2009
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The National Institute for Engineering Ethics recently named West Point Professor Brock Barry to its Board of Directors.
Barry recently completed a doctorate of Engineering Education at Purdue University and will be the first West Point faculty member with this distinct degree in the academy’s Civil Engineering Division.
The mission of NIEE is to promote education, communication, program and project development and practice applications in the area of engineering ethics. A primary role of the Institute is to encourage cooperation among individuals, universities, professional and technical societies and business organizations with regard to engineering ethics and professionalism issues.
“This is a very prestigious position,” said Col. Stephen Ressler, Civil & Mechanical Engineering department head, “particularly for someone who has just finished his Ph.D.”
