TRIATHLON TEAM WINS TWO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS — June 23, 2009

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The West Point Triathlon Team won the team and individual championship at the Collegiate Ironman 70.3 National Championships held in Lawrence, Kan., on June 14.

The West Point team defeated the University of Colorado, while Cadet Ashley Morgan, Class of 2010, won the female individual collegiate title.  The men were led by Duathlon National Champion, 2nd Lt. Nick Sterghos, Class of 2009, who finished second for collegiate men and tenth overall out of over 1600 amateur participants.

West Point had its most successful weekend in program history winning both the team and individual titles while also qualifying four cadets for the World Championships in Clearwater, Fla., this November. 

Team results were determined by the combined times of the top three males and two female finishers.
