NINE CADETS NAMED ROTARY SCHOLARS – Sept. 15, 2009

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Rotary Foundation named nine cadets, all members of the Class of 2010, as Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship recipients for 2009.

Brennan Roorda, 21, Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Orlando Zambrano, 21, Tampa, Fla.

The cadets all found out at various times over the summer that they had been selected by their district.

The Rotary Foundation’s oldest and best-known program is Ambassadorial Scholarships. Since 1947 nearly 38,000 men and women from about 100 nations have studied abroad under its auspices.  Today it is the world’s largest privately funded international scholarship program.  Nearly 800 scholarships were awarded for study in 2005-2006.  Through grants totaling approximately $500 million, recipients from some 70 countries studied in more than 70 nations.
