Army outfielder Nicki Robbins added another certificate to her list of post-season awards when she was named to the 2001 All-ECAC first team. A first-team Mid-Atlantic Region selection the past three years, this is the first time Robbins has been named All-ECAC.
The junior recently finished the softball season hitting .443, good for ninth in the nation, while also leading the country in doubles per game at 0.47. That mark was the sixth highest single-season average in NCAA history dating back to 1982, when official records were first kept.
Robbins led the Patriot League in batting, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and doubles. She was a first-team all-league pick and won the player-of-the-year award in the Patriot League for the second consecutive season.
Robbins collected 51 hits in 38 games this year. She had 18 doubles, one triple and four home runs for a .722 slugging percentage and only struck out four times in 115 at bats. Her 28 runs scored led the Black Knights squad as well. She led the team in eight offensive categories.
Voted the team captain for next year by her teammates, Robbins broke four career records and one single-season mark during the 2001 spring. She now holds five all-time marks at the academy and five more single-season bests.
The Patriot League had five players honored by the ECAC with two selected to both the first and second team along with an honorable mention. Joining Robbins on the 12-member first team was Colgate junior Amanda Paolucci as a designated player. Last year Paolucci was honored as a third baseman.
Colgate sophomore Amanda Brickell and Lehigh sophomore Jenny Bender were named to the All-ECAC second team as a second baseman and utility player, respectively. Colgates Melissa Rawson earned honorable mention as a first baseman.
Rider junior outfielder Deanna Dovak was named the ECAC Division I "Player of the Year."
