Welcome to the West Point Museum’s website. I hope you find it informative and an introduction to our diverse collections, exhibitions and special events. As the extensive holdings of the West Point Museum are displayed not only within the Museum’s walls at Pershing Center, but throughout the United States Military Academy’s buildings and grounds we offer a taste of the over 60,000 Army historical artifacts that inspire and educate the U.S. Corps of Cadets on a daily basis.
We invite you to explore this site and visit the museum to learn more about the displays and galleries of America’s oldest and finest military museum. The holdings span the history of the Military Academy, the military history of the United States Army, history of warfare and the profession of arms. The location of the Museum within the Hudson River Highlands is best pictured through our magnificent collection of artwork from the Hudson River School.
Our mission is to “Preserve America’s Military Heritage” so that it might be used to “educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army.” As a component of the oldest continually occupied Garrison in the United States Army, the Museum educates all public visitors.
I invite you to enjoy our historic artifacts and the remarkable stories they share – admission is free. The professional staff of the institution strives to make the West Point Museum a stimulating, thought provoking and exciting experience, always worthy of your time and enthusiasm. I am pleased to invite you inside for a sneak preview!
