The forum provides an opportunity to develop leadership, intellectual agility,
and cross-cultural empathy. The Model UN offers an excellent opportunity for
students around the globe to interact with cadets. Most of the conferences entail
simulations which address contemporary international security and socio-economic
issues. Cadets participate by representing (simulating) country and committee
delegations. Successful participation requires excellent verbal and written
communication skills, strong interpersonal and debating abilities and leadership.
Currently, West Point fields one of the strongest Model UN programs in the nation.
Although an average conference includes 25-50 schools and several hundred student
delegates, USMA regularly receives recognition for Best Delegation or Best Delegate
Model UN effort.
