James Rafferty

“Raff” is our only wrestler native to New Jersey this season.  As another of our six recruits, he will be an integral part of the team this season.  Coming out of Haddon Heights, NJ, Rafferty attended Bishop Eustace High School, where he was the Region 7 Champion, three-time District 27 Champion. He captained both the wrestling and football teams, and earned a total of seven varsity letters and tallied 131 career wins in wrestling. 

Raff is a very vocal leader for the team, and there is never a dull moment around him.  He brings a lot of energy and charisma to the team, and often has jokes or witty comments to lighten the mood.  His work ethic in the weight room and the wrestling room is nothing short of phenomenal.  He has already seen huge gains in his strength, and his wrestling abilities have greatly improved as well.  We look to Rafferty to make a run at All-American or National Champion status at the NCWA National Tournament this season.

Personal:  James Edward Rafferty.  Birthday is 23 March 1989.  He lists becoming a leader as his main reason for attending military academy.  His favorite athlete is Tiger Woods, and he lists winning and camaraderie as his favorite things about wrestling.  Raff’s personal goals include becoming a college style wrestler, making the Dean’s list and achieving good ACT/SAT scores, to mature this year, and to one day live on the water and own restaurants.
