John Michael Simpson

Ht: 5'6"

Wt. Class: 133/141

Another of our recruits, John Michael Simpson is a native of Nashville, TN where he attended Montgomery Bell Academy.  In his time at MBA, Simpson was the MVP in both 2005 and 2006, and earned the State Championship in both 2006 and 2007.  He is the sixth out of ten kids in his family, following brothers Phillip, Patrick, and William to the Army Wrestling program.

With wrestling in his blood, John Michael is set to embark on his collegiate career.  Simpson is very respectful of others, and is a strong leader both at USMAPS and in the wrestling room.  He is currently serving as a platoon leader for Charlie Company, here at USMAPS.  In addition to his athletic and military success, Simpson plays the mandolin: a bluegrass instrument. Simpson has already gotten stronger through his dedication in the weight room, and has sharpened his wrestling skills as well.  He should make a solid run at becoming an NCWA All-American or national champion this season, and will be relied on to help the team pull out some dual match victories.

Personal:  John Michael Simpson.  1 March 1989.  He lists getting a good education and extending his wrestling career as reasons for attending the military academy.  John Michael lists wrestling great Cael Sanderson as his favorite athlete.  His favorite part about wrestling is the challenge involved in the sport.  Simpson has set the bar high this season, and with his continued effort, he will reach his goals.  He will strive to lose no more than two matches this season, and win the national championship.  Academically, Simpson is working for the Commandant’s list, and make good scores on the ACT/SAT.
