Coffey hails from Boone, NC.  At Watauga High School, Coffey was a four time state place winner, taking 4th his freshman year, was the state runner-up as a sophomore, and he closed out his high school career by capturing the North Carolina 4A State Championship in his last two seasons.  On the national level, Coffey was a fourth place finisher at the prestigious Junior National tournament held in Fargo, NC. 

Coffey’s leadership has been evident from the start.  He has stayed after practices and come in on weekends, both to help himself improve on his wrestling skills, as well as help some of the less experienced wrestlers reach their full potential.  In the weight room, Coffey is a maniac.  His work ethic should take him to the top this season, as well as in the years to come.

Personal:  Travis Jones Coffey.  Birthday is 17 October 1988.  Coffey lists making himself a better wrestler and a better person as his reasons for attending the military academy.  Travis says his favorite thing about wrestling is the feeling he gets after a tough match.  He lists wrestling great Dan Gable as his favorite athlete.  Among Coffey’s personal goals are to get more organized, make the Commandant’s list, and be happy with what he is doing.
