Visiting campus during the academic year is one of the best ways to get a sense of daily life at West Point. We invite you to schedule a weekday visit so you will know whether West Point is a good fit for you.
We suggest you visit by spring of your junior year in high school because, should you choose to apply, you will need enough time to complete the admissions process.
During your visit, you will be matched with a cadet for a more personal experience. You will:
- attend class
- visit a residence hall (the "barracks", in Army-speak)
- eat lunch in the dining hall (the "Cadet Mess")
- get an escorted tour of campus
Meanwhile, family members or friends receive their own opportunity to learn about West Point. They will:
- attend a group orientation to learn about the Admissions process and cadet life
- take a guided walking tour of the academic areas
Call ahead. You can schedule a day visit during the academic term on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Your program will begin at 7:45 a.m. (we recommend showing up by 7:30 a.m) and conclude around 1:00 p.m.
Schedule it online or by calling (845) 938-5760 between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If you choose to visit during the summer, daily meetings are held in the Admissions office at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. You will meet one-on-one with an Admissions officer who will discuss the admissions process, cadet life, Army life and other information of interest to you.
To attend one of these meetings, please call (845) 938-5760 or (845) 938-5759.
NOTE: Candidates must select a tour date at least two weeks prior to the current date. Cancellations or new appointments may not be made within two weeks of the current date.
