Security Concerns and Directions

Coming to West Point:

Directions to West Point and a map of the Post are available on-line (click here for directions and map).  Information about local lodging options and tourist activities are also included on that website.

Enter West Point through the Thayer Gate Only! You absolutely MUST HAVE a valid photo ID.  Thayer Gate is accessed by exiting Route 9W at the exit marked as the "Highland Falls, West Point".    Expect delays entering West Point and understand that you may have your vehicle and contents searched!

Visitors staying at the Hotel Thayer:

Parking is available at the Hotel Thayer (Bldg 674).  Ask for directions from the Military Police at the Thayer Gate entrance.  The ASEE Conference will be held in the West Point Central Area (Thayer Hall, Bldg 601) approximately 1 mile north of the Hotel Thayer.  A shuttle service from the Hotel Thayer entrance will be provided on Fri and Sat.  If it is a nice day, you may prefer to walk, as the views along that route are among the most beautiful found anywhere.

Visitors not staying at the Hotel Thayer:

Parking is provided at Buffalo Soldier Field (BSF), located at the exit from the Thayer Gate security check-point, directly across the street from the Hotel Thayer.  The ASEE Conference will be held in the West Point Central Area (Thayer Hall, Bldg 601) approximately 1 mile north of Buffalo Soldier Field.  A shuttle service from the BSF covered bus stop will be provided on Fri and Sat.

Buffalo Soldier Field is located at coordinates B-4.5 on this map (Printable PDF Map).
