SGM James Mullins Sergeant Major James Mullins is the principal oboist of the Concert Band and performs with the Academy Wind Quintet. He also performs in the Binghamton Philharmonic as well as the Cornwall and West Point chamber music series. Before coming to West Point, SGM Mullins served with the Army Ground Forces Band in Georgia where he also played with the Augusta Symphony and Cobb Symphony orchestras. He has played with the Secret Garden National Tour, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Bach Ensemble of Baltimore, Opera Roanoke, Richmond Ballet and Richmond Symphony Orchestra. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Masters degree from Peabody Conservatory, and is a member of the American Federation of Musicians and the International Double Reed Society. SSG Carey Winans Staff Sergeant Carey Winans is originally from Haxtun, Colorado. She received her Bachelor of Music in performance from the University of Northern Colorado in 2003, where she studied with Peter Cooper. She completed her Master of Music in 2005 at the University of Southern California under Allan Vogel. She has played with the Central City Opera Company for the past three years. She has also been a member of the Ft. Collins Symphony Orchestra, the American Youth Symphony and substituted with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Winans performed in Carnegie Hall twice in 2005, once with the American Youth Symphony, and once with the University of Southern California Wind Ensemble. Winans is also a member of the West Point Woodwind Quintet. |
