MSG Gerald Cates
SSG Scott Beaver Staff Sergeant Scott Beaver joined the U.S. Military Academy Band in May of 2005. Prior to joining the band, Scott was a member of the New Mexico Brass Quintet. He holds an undergraduate degree from Tennessee Tech University, where he studied with R. Winston Morris, and is currently finishing his Master's degree at the University of New Mexico where he studies with Karl Hinterbichler. He is a recent winner of the University of New Mexico Concerto Competition, the Arapahoe Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, as well as the top wind player in the Kingsville Concerto Competition.
SSG Nathan Turner Staff Sergeant Nathan Turner, tuba, of Eugene, Oregon, has been a member of the U.S. Military Academy Concert Band since September 2006. Nathan studied tuba for seven years with Richard Frazier at the University of Oregon before attending the New England Conservatory of Music, the Juilliard School and the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. His teachers include Abe Torchinsky, Chester Schmitz, Warren Deck and Tim Northcut. Nathan lives with his wife, Adrienne, and their two dogs.
