MSG Ronald Fleischman
Trombone

Master Sergeant Ronald Fleischman, from Darlington, Pennsylvania, came to the Academy band in February of 1996.  He holds a bachelor's degree from Duquesne University and a master's degree from Youngstown State University.   Since joining the Army in 1992, MSG Fleischman attended the Army Element, School of Music and performed in the band at Ft. Gordon, Georgia.  Additionally, he has played with the Augusta Symphony Orchestra.  MSG Fleischman also performs with the West Point Dixie Players.

SFC Teddy Arnold
Bass Trombone

Sergeant First Class Teddy Arnold is currently the bass trombonist for the Jazz Knights, a position he has held since September of 2001.  A native of Jacksonville, Florida, SFC Arnold entered the Army in 1985.  His military service has taken him around the globe in performance with many Army bands.  His assignments have included the United States Army Band & Chorus, based in Heidelberg, Germany; the 82nd Airborne Division Band at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and the former 14th Army Band at Ft. McClellan, Alabama.  In 1989, SFC Arnold was an Honor Graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music at Little Creek, VA.  He also attended Methodist College and Fayetteville State University studying music.  SFC Arnold has studied and performed with Telarc recording artist Steve Turre (Saturday Night Live), Douglas Purviance (Vanguard Jazz Orchestra) and Benny Powell (formally of the Count Basie Orchestra).  He has performed with many artists in various styles to include Latin, Broadway shows and jazz.

SSG Eric Ordway
Trombone

Staff Sergeant Eric Ordway grew up in Northeast Harbor ME and joined the Jazz Knights in the Spring of 2007.  After graduation from high school he enlisted in the Navy.  After accelerating out of the Armed Forces School of Music, he reported to Navy Band New Orleans.  Auditioning for colleges, he was awarded the Stan Kenton Scholarship to attend University of North Texas.  He left the Navy to pursue a Jazz studies degree at University of North Texas.  While in Texas, he began to freelance regularly throughout the Dallas and Fort Worth area performing with such groups such as the Dallas Jazz Orchestra.  He has been a two time finalist in the Eastern Trombone Jazz Competition finishing as high as 2nd place.  He rejoined the Navy Music program and was sent to the Navy Band Northwest, where he was the leader of the Dixieland Band and Musical Director of "Cascade Big Band".  He became a very active freelance musician and clinician in the Northwest.  Eric Ordway has performed with many great artist throughout his musical career such as:  Pete Chrislieb, Bobby Shew, The Ojays, Jay Thomas, Slide Hampton, Bill Ramsay, Dan Higgins, Stefan Karlson, Lou Fisher, Steve Haughton, Clay Jenkins, Walt Johnson, Mike Smith and Andy Martin.

SSG Daniel Pierce
Trombone

Staff Sergeant Dan Pierce grew up in Slingerlands, NY and Pepper Pike, OH and joined the Jazz Knights in Fall of 2006.  He earned a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music from DePaul University.  As a four-year member of the Eastman Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Fred Sturm and Bill Dobbins, he had the privilege to perform with guest artists including Maria Schneider, Bobby McFerrin, Vince Mendoza, Toots Thielmans, Tim Hagans, Bill Holman and Clare Fischer.  SSG Pierce has studied with Paul Ferguson, John Marcellus, Mark Kellogg, Mark Fisher and Charles Vernon.  His performing credits include the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Pops Series with Doc Severinsen, Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, Dave Rivello Ensemble, Bob Perna and Persistance, and Cunard Cruise Lines.
