MSG Susan Davidson
Master Sergeant Susan Davidson is from Kokomo, Indiana and joined the Academy Band in September of 1997. She previously served as fourth hornist in the Concert Band and performed with the West Point Brass Quintet and the Highlands Brass Quintet. Before coming to West Point, she played with the Frankfurt and Heidelberg Army Bands and with various community orchestras in Germany. MSG Davidson received bachelor's degrees in performance and education from Ball State University and a master’s degree in performance from Ithaca College and currently teaches studio horn at Marist and Nyack Colleges.
MSG Blair
Ferrier
Master Sergeant Blair Ferrier is from Cookeville, Tennessee and is the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the West Point Band’s Audio Section. MSG Ferrier attended the University of Memphis for Vocal Performance and Rockland Community College for Radio and Television Broadcasting. He is the primary sound engineer for the West Point Cadet Chapel. His prior military experience before joining the band in 1998 includes two tours with the United States Army Soldier Show in 1996 and 1997. Master Sergeant Ferrier began his enlisted career as a Combat Medic.
MSG Douglas Richard
Master Sergeant Richard grew up in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Duquesnse University and an Master of Fine Arts in Studio Composition from SUNY Purchase. He began his military career as a bugler in the 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard) Fife and Drum Corps and then served in The United States Army Band (Pershing’s Own) as a music copyist. SFC Myra Fishburn Supply Sergeant First Class Myra J. Fishburn was was born in Okinawa, Japan and moved to Bowling Green, KY in 1973, She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1988 and graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1993 with a B.A. in Liberal Arts (Music). SFC Fishburn entered the Army as a French Horn player in 1994, attended Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Infantry Training at the Armed Forces School of Music. Assignments have included 8th Army Band, Seoul, Korea; 10th Mountain Division (LI) Band, Ft. Drum, New York; 113th Army Band, Ft. Knox, Kentucky; 76th Army Band, Wiesbaden/Mannheim, Germany; and the 62nd Army Band at Ft. Bliss, Texas before being hired for the position of Supply Supervisor for the West Point Band in 2005. SFC Fishburn was deployed to Iraq in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March to November 2005 with the 76th Army Band. SFC Fishburn's awards included the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Humanitarian Assistance Medal, the Iraqi Campaign medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Medal and the Good conduct Medal. SFC Fishburn lives in Cornwall, NY with her cat, Sebastian.
SSG Shane Pettit
Staff Sergeant Shane Pettit, from Easton, Pennsylvania, joined the U.S. Military Academy Band Support Staff in September of 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in tuba performance from Temple University. Prior to joining the Army band program, Staff Sgt. Pettit was an active freelance tubist as well as a full-time repair technician in the Philadelphia area. He apprenticed under Ed Coles of Regional Music Service in Millville, New Jersey, and was a journeyman repair technician under Bret Gustafson of Gustafson Music in Philadelphia. Prior to joining the USMA Band, Staff Sgt. Pettit served with the 2nd Infantry Division Band in Korea, and was also an instrument repair technician at the Armed Forces School of Music, Little Creek, Virginia. He most recently served as tuba instructor at the Armed Forces School of Music.
SSG Jeremy Schlegel

Sergeant Jeremy Schlegel, from Hanover
Township, Pennsylvania, joined the Academy Band Support Staff in August
of 2008. Staff Sgt. Schlegel earned his Bachelor of Music in trumpet
performance and music education from Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY. Staff
Sgt. Schlegel began his enlisted career in August of 2005. Prior to
assignment at West Point, Staff Sgt. Schlegel was assigned to the U.S.
Army Medical Command Band at Ft. Sam Houston, TX where he served as the
Personnel & Administration Branch Chief and performed as principal
trumpet player in the Concert Band, Jazz Combo, and Rock Band.
SSG Joseph Skinner
Staff Sergeant Joseph Skinner attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in music composition and music technology. While in Oklahoma, Staff Sgt. Skinner built and ran his own audio studio where he recorded well-known regional artists, started work on scoring an eight-part documentary series, and also did recording work for the University of Oklahoma bands. It was in Oklahoma that Joseph met his wife, Mikki, a bugler in Hellcats. In 2007, Staff Sgt. Skinner moved to Cleveland, Ohio and started freelancing at Ante Up Audio as an audio engineer and composer. In 2008, Staff Sgt. Skinner started writing music for American Greetings’ eCards.
