The United States Military
Academy Band is the oldest musical organization in the United States Army.
Its primary mission is to provide musical support for the United States
Corps of Cadets. The Military Academy Band performs a wide variety of
commitments, including public concerts, ceremonies, chamber music
recitals, recording sessions, and athletic events, and has performed at
such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Tanglewood and
the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
An assignment in the
United States Military Academy Band is stabilized. Promotion to Staff
Sergeant is awarded after completion of four months service. Benefits
include medical and dental care for you and your immediate family. Educational benefits include a college loan repayment program and tuition
assistance.

acoustic content that demonstrates audio production aptitude), a

- The main duties associated with this position are
performing bugle calls, meal formations, parades, funerals, and public concerts
in the West Point Band’s Field Music Group (click

- The Hellcats are the premier bugle and drum ensemble
in the US Army, comprised of eight buglers and five rudimental drummers

Applications should

preferably a video recording, not more than six months old.
Military applicants should refer to the information above for
additional requirements. The following repertoire will be
included:

The exposition
of the first movement of either Mozart Concerto #2, Mozart
Concerto #4, or any Strauss Concerto.

Traditional
orchestral excerpts or etudes in contrasting styles (3-5
total), demonstrating high and low registers, technical and
musical abilities.

Publicist/Graphic Designer
REQUIREMENTS: Strong
knowledge of classical, jazz, and popular music; 3+ years of
progressive public relations experience with emphasis in
classical and/or jazz music organizations; proven ability to
work effectively with musicians and to handle projects with
minimal supervision; undergraduate degree in music, public
affairs, arts marketing, advertising, graphic design or
journalism preferred; excellent sense of local and national
media; advanced writing and computer skills to include graphic
design, photo editing and/or video editing; photography;
excellent communication skills for radio/TV interviews; able to
deliver high quality products in a fast paced, event driven
environment.

DUTIES:
- Assist the Publicity
Division Chief in promoting the West Point Band to local,
national and international audiences; working
collaboratively with the West Point Band Publicity Staff to
secure maximum coverage for West Point Band events
- Strategically promote West
Point Band musical events to include Eisenhower Hall Theatre
Concerts, “Music Under the Stars” summer Trophy Point
concerts, West Point Band Chamber Music Series Recitals,
local community concerts, large, “high-visibility” off-post
concerts, concerts for national music education conventions,
military ceremonies, master classes, guest artists, special
presentations, and cadet athletic events
- Plan, pitch and place
stories in local and national print, broadcast, and
electronic media outlets; proactively seek editorial
coverage to raise the profile of the West Point Band; write
and edit press releases, media alerts, biographical
information and other written materials, as assigned
- Create artwork to include CD
covers, posters, tri-folds, postcards, magnets, newspaper
advertisements, web-ads, webpage materials, and convention
booth materials; develop and improve the West Point Band
branding toolkit
- Arrange and coordinate photo
and video shoots for West Point Band venues; attend assigned
concerts to handle media relations and photography
- Increase audience size and
exposure nationally and internationally; improve the
distribution of media materials
- Coordinate VIP invitations
and seating arrangements for special concerts in the
Eisenhower Hall Theatre and Trophy Point outdoor concerts
- Ability to manage West Point
Band Publicity budget for advertisements, printed materials,
supplies and services
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge and passion for
classical, jazz and popular music; proven ability to work
effectively with musicians and to handle projects with
minimal supervision
- Minimum three years of
progressive public relations experience with emphasis on
classical and/or jazz music organizations
- Undergraduate degree in
music, arts marketing, advertising, graphic design, or
journalism preferred
- Advanced computer skills
including but not limited to the following programs: Adobe
Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Acrobat;
Microsoft Suite
- Impeccable writing and
editing skills for articles, press releases, and
biographies; excellent communication skills for radio/TV
interviews
Applicants should also possess
the following attributes and skills:
- Graphic design - Can
visualize and create projects in short time period;
knowledge of Pantone colors and combinations; understanding
of website design and promotion; branding and brand
development
- Photography – Can photograph
a concert in low light without flash

QUALIFICATIONS
Soldier must possess
strong leadership, managerial and interpersonal relationship
skills, and must have the ability to set priorities and allocate
time accordingly. Soldier must have the ability to solve
problems and apply past experience to new and unique situations.
A firm knowledge of supply policies, regulations, procedures,
and contracting laws is required.
Soldier will have
experience in procurement processes (to include contracting
procedures, budget management, funds execution, and IMPAC Card
expertise) and PBUSE.
Additional experience will be displayed through knowledge of DTS
& Government Travel Card management, and a high degree of
computer literacy is expected. Enlisted military personnel will
have a current maximum rank of SSG with less than 10 years
time-in-service, and be fully eligible for permanent change of
station. Three years supply experience is preferred.

Supervisor for The United States Military Academy Band,
responsible for all aspects of supply operations

Maintains a
comprehensive list and inventory of mission-essential items,
to include specialized uniforms, clothing, supplies, and
equipment

Provides
oversight in writing of specialized contracts (Guest Artist,
Special Recording Projects, and Special Events)

Proactively
coordinates with internal and external divisions to ensure
all aspects and operations of S-4 are accounted for on a
monthly basis

Manages and
supervises 5 part-time assistant supply NCOs, including 3
Government Purchase Card holders

Other
specialized tasks and duties as assigned
