I hope this letter of mine finds you in the best of health and spirit.
It is extremely heartening to learn that you are celebrating the Bicentennial of the founding
of the US Military Academy at West Point, New York. I take this opportunity to extend my
warmest greetings and felicitations on this august occasion.
As one of the oldest service academies of your country, USMA West Points is a history by
itself. This is the history of men who made their own place in history through their illustrious deeds
not only during the great Wars but also in the recent times. Serving a nation to protect its way of
life, to preserve its freedom is a great pride. Accepting the challenge and opportunity to play a
global role for the cause of humanity is much more exalting.
The United States should be proud of this academy for producing leaders of competence
and character. It is the embodiment of personal and professional accomplishment of its graduates.
On the eve of your Bicentennial celebration, we pray for its continued prosperity in the days to
come.
