It is a distinct pleasure for me on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to convey our congratulations to the United States Military Academy on the occasion of its BiCentennial anniversary.

The influence of the Academy's graduates has been felt throughout the world. Whether it was building the Panama Canal, soaring through space, conquering deadly diseases or leading its soldiers victoriously in combat, your nation has always found a West Pointer to accomplish its mission.

The names of Grant, Lee, Sherman, Pershing, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Bradley, Patton, Taylor, Ridgway, Haig, Abrams, and Schwarzkopf are but a small sample of the thousands of graduates who have made tremendous contributions in every walk of American life.

Conceived by George Washington as an institution which would provide leaders to preserve and protect the constitution of the United States, one must say that West Point has fulfilled that great President's vision. Throughout the world, the name of West Pointer is now synonymous with integrity and selfless sacrifice.

It is most significant that young leaders from both our military institutions are now serving side by side in the war against terrorism.

On this historic occasion, let me as an old soldier, add my personal best wishes to the Long Gray Line and the Corps of Cadets.
