Subject
Bicentennial anniversary West Point

Dear General,
Through this letter I take the opportunity to congratulate you with the bicentennial existence of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The Netherlands Army considers West Point as an institute with a long and nobel history; an institute which brought forth many great men.

The Royal Military Academy from the Netherlands values the same high standards of military discipline and honourable conduct during the training of cadets as the United States Military Academy at West Point. It is my experience that those virtues will contribute to a better co-operation in times of war and in peace operations.

I express the hope that the United States Military Academy at West Point will stay in the future an example for the free world how to educate young cadets and how to make them ready for the intense physical demands of modern warfare.

West Point creates the best out of the finest
Young Americans! They brought freedom to Europe.
Yours sincerely,
