Major Brian Montgomery is from Roswell, GA. He received his commission from the United States Military Academy at West Point in May of 2004 after receiving a Bachelors of Science in Economics.

Upon completion of the Infantry Officer’s Basic Course, MAJ Montgomery reported to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, in March 2005, where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer, deploying to Tall Afar, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Later, he served as the 2-325th AIR Battalion Logistics Officer deploying to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the deployment, MAJ Montgomery was attached to Multi National Forces – Iraq where he served in the Commander’s Initiatives Group. Following the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, he returned to the White Falcons where he served as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer. Major Montgomery assumed command of Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division in April 2009, and commanded the company through their deployment to Port-au-Prince, Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response. After command, he served as the Brigade Assistant Operations Officer – Plans and Rear Detachment Operations Officer for 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. Major Montgomery is currently assigned to the United States Military Academy as an instructor of General Psychology for Leaders (PL100) after earning a Master of Arts degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at New York University in New York, NY.

His awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Freefall Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. His decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, GWOT Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon
