Major David A. Uthlaut is a native of Charleston, SC and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2001. He has served in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 25th Infantry Division, and the 75th Ranger Regiment, including three deployments to Iraq and two to Afghanistan. During that time he served as a platoon leader, company executive officer, battalion assistant operations officer, Iraqi Security Forces liaison officer, brigade adjutant, and company commander.
