COL James Ness is an Academy Professor and Director of the Engineering Psychology program in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the US Military Academy, West Point. His current academic rank is associate professor and he is a senior research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Technology at the University of Texas, Austin. COL Ness’s prior assignment was as Command Inspector General, NATO Training Mission/Combined Security Training Command - Afghanistan. COL Ness earned a Bronze Star for his efforts in reforming the Afghan National Military Hospital and for establishing an internal assessment program within the Ministry of Interior to inform Afghan leadership of the effectiveness of their initiatives to build a professional police force.
