MAJ Lisa Black is a native of Copperas Cove, Texas. In November 1993 she enlisted in the Army as a Radio Repairer. She served with Bravo Company, 24th Forward Support Battalion, 24th Infantry Division, later re-designated to the 3rd Forward Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, at Fort Stewart, Georgia. She deployed to Kuwait in September 1994 in support of Operation Vigilant Warrior. In April 1998 she reclassified and attended the Basic Journalism Course at Fort Meade Maryland. She was then assigned to HHC, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. She deployed to Camp Tuzla, Bosnia as the Division Public Affairs NCO from September 1998 to July 1999. After serving six years, she was released from active duty for three years on a Green to Gold scholarship . She graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Accounting.

She entered the Army again in July 2002 after receiving her commission from the University of Tampa as a Finance Officer, detailed to the Air Defense Artillery. She graduated from the Air Defense Artillery Basic Course at Fort Bliss, TX as a distinguished military graduate and was then assigned to the Bravo Battery, 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery in Ansbach, GE as the Fire Control Platoon Leader and Battery Trainer. After completing her detail to the Air Defense Artillery in June 2004 she was reassigned to Delta Detachment, 106th Finance Battalion also in Ansbach, GE. She served as the Cash Control Officer, Rear Detachment Commander, and Executive Officer until April 2006. She completed the Financial Manager’s Captains Career course in December 2006 and was assigned as the Operation’s Officer for the Special Troops Battalion (STB), 1st Sustainment Brigade (1SB) in Fort Riley, KS. She deployed as the Operations Officer with the STB to Camp Taji, Iraq in September 2007. In March 2008 she was reassigned to the 24th Financial Management Company, attached to the STB, 1SB, in Camp Liberty, Iraq as the Executive Officer until November 2008 when she redeployed. In December 2008 she assumed command of C Detachment, 126th Financial Management Company until December 2009. In June 2010 she was reassigned to the U.S. Army Student Detachment (USASD) at Fort Jackson, SC with duty at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where she completed her Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology.

Her military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Superior Unit Award, Parachutist badge, and the German Proficiency Badge.
